Privacy Policy — Cooking Timers

This Privacy Policy explains how Domestic Arts LLC, DBA Cooking Timers™ and Free Cooking Timers™ (“we,” “us,” or “our”), collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects information when you use our services.

By using Cooking Timers and our related services, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Who We Are

2. Information We Collect

We collect information necessary to provide, operate, secure, and improve the Service.

Account information

When you create or use an account, we may collect or have access to:

your email address
your unique user ID
your display name or basic profile information provided through your sign-in method
authentication provider information
account creation and update timestamps
authentication/session information needed to keep you signed in

We use third-party authentication services for account creation and sign-in, including email/password and supported third-party sign-in options.

Saved content

We store content you choose to save or create in Cooking Timers, including:

recipes
DIY projects
Recipe Box and Project Box content
Inspiration Boards for DIY projects
collections
meal plans
Smart Grocery Lists
Smart Materials Lists
ingredients and materials
instructions
notes and private notes
saved timers
source URLs
imported source text
uploaded or scanned images
screenshots and photos
media attachments
cover images
AI-generated cover images
information associated with imports and saved content
sharing tokens and related sharing settings

Some imported source text and source images may remain stored with the saved recipe or project so the feature can continue to function as intended.

Payment and subscription information

Cooking Timers does not receive or store your full payment-card information.

Payments are processed through Stripe.

We may receive and store billing and subscription records provided by Stripe, such as:

Stripe customer ID
subscription ID
checkout session ID
plan or price information
subscription status
current subscription period dates
cancellation status
trial status
purchase amount and currency
records of optional purchases

We may send Stripe your account email and, where available, a display name so your subscription can be associated with your account.

For purchases made in the Cooking Timers app for Apple devices, payment is processed by Apple. Cooking Timers does not receive your Apple payment credentials. To apply and maintain purchases on your Cooking Timers account, we store the Apple transaction or subscription identifiers, product identifier, applicable purchase and expiration dates, and purchase or subscription status. Apple-signed purchase information is verified when needed, but the raw signed Apple payload is not retained.

Diagnostic and operational information

We maintain limited diagnostic and operational records to operate the Service, troubleshoot problems, prevent abuse, and improve reliability.

These records may include:

account/user ID
feature used
import or scan activity
error or failure details
file type and size
timing and performance information
recipe or project identifiers
limited content excerpts where needed to diagnose a save or processing error
email delivery status
route or page information associated with application errors

Some of this information may be linked to your account and therefore is not anonymous.

Our hosting and infrastructure providers may also process standard request information such as IP address, browser, device, and user-agent information as part of normal server operation and security.

We do not currently use third-party advertising analytics, marketing pixels, or behavioral-advertising trackers.

3. How We Use Information

We use information to:

provide and operate Cooking Timers
create and authenticate accounts
sync saved content across devices
save, organize, import, display, print, and share content you choose to use
process recipe and DIY project imports
provide AI-assisted features
generate AI cover images
operate timers and notification features
process and manage subscriptions and optional purchases
send transactional account, security, billing, and service emails
respond to support requests
troubleshoot errors and improve performance
protect the security and integrity of the Service
comply with legal, accounting, tax, fraud-prevention, and regulatory obligations

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to data brokers or advertisers.

We do not sell personal information or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

4. AI Processing

Cooking Timers uses third-party AI service providers for optional features such as:

importing and organizing recipes
importing and organizing DIY projects
processing pasted text
processing public webpage content
interpreting photos, screenshots, and scans
processing uploaded videos
generating AI cover images

Depending on the feature you choose, information sent for AI processing may include:

recipe or project text
ingredients or materials
public webpage content
uploaded images
screenshots or scans
uploaded videos
recipe or project titles
limited content used to create an AI-generated cover

The information is transmitted to perform the AI feature you requested.

Cooking Timers does not make a separate representation in this Privacy Policy about whether an underlying AI provider retains submitted information or uses it for model training. Those practices are governed by the applicable provider agreements and privacy policies.

AI-generated cover images that you save are stored with your account in private storage.

5. Photos, Images, and Video Processing

Uploaded cover images, saved photos, scans, screenshots, and other attachments may be stored in private storage so they remain available in your account.

Uploaded videos used for Video Import are processed temporarily.

Video files used for import are designed to be removed from temporary storage after processing is completed or fails.

Information derived from the video may be stored if you save the resulting recipe or DIY project.

Some imported source images and attachments may remain stored as part of the saved content.

6. Sharing

Cooking Timers allows you to create shareable links for certain content, including:

recipes
DIY projects
Inspiration Boards
meal plans
Smart Grocery Lists
Smart Materials Lists

These links are generally unlisted and do not require the viewer to sign in.

If you create a share link, anyone who has the valid link may be able to view the content you chose to share.

Shared views are designed not to expose your private notes or account email/identity.

You may revoke supported share links through the Service, after which the previous link will no longer provide access to that shared content.

You are responsible for deciding what content you choose to make accessible through a share link.

7. Notifications and Timer Alerts

If you enable notifications, Cooking Timers may store information necessary to deliver timer alerts, including:

a browser/device push endpoint
encryption keys associated with the push subscription
browser or platform information
timer label text included in an alert
scheduled alert time
delivery status and failure information

Push notifications may be delivered through the notification service associated with your browser, device, or operating system.

Notification payloads are transmitted to the device endpoint needed to deliver the alert.

Terminal timer-alert records are periodically removed, and stale or repeatedly failing push subscriptions may also be removed.

In the Cooking Timers app for Apple devices, timer completion alerts are scheduled locally on your device. These local timer notifications do not require timer content to be sent to Cooking Timers servers for delivery.

You can control notification permissions through your browser or device settings.

8. Transactional Email

Cooking Timers may send transactional or account-related emails, including:

account verification
sign-in or magic-link messages
password recovery
account security notices
subscription or payment-related notices
account-setup reminders after a guest checkout
support-related communications

We use third-party email delivery services to send these messages.

We do not currently operate a marketing newsletter through Cooking Timers.

We may retain limited email-delivery records, such as:

recipient email
message/template type
delivery status
failure or bounce information

Email suppression records may be retained to prevent messages from being sent to addresses that have bounced, complained, or otherwise should not receive future email.

9. Cookies, Local Storage, and Device Storage

Cooking Timers uses browser storage and similar technologies to operate the Service and remember your settings.

This may include:

Used for things such as:

theme preferences
timer state
active recipes
measurement preferences
timer layout
saved timer information
cached app information
installation prompts
notification-banner preferences
pending checkout information
authentication session information

Session storage

Used for temporary information such as:

in-progress form drafts
temporary application flags
update confirmations
limited debugging information when explicitly enabled

Service worker

Cooking Timers uses a service worker for push-notification behavior.

Cookies

Cooking Timers does not currently set its own browser cookies directly for general tracking.

Stripe may use cookies or similar technologies for checkout, fraud prevention, security, and payment processing in accordance with Stripe’s own privacy practices.

Cooking Timers does not currently use IndexedDB for customer application data.

10. Third-Party Service Providers

We use trusted third-party service providers to help operate and provide Cooking Timers.

These providers may assist with services such as:

account authentication and sign-in
secure data and file storage
website and application hosting
subscription and payment processing
AI-assisted features
transactional email delivery
browser and device notifications

These service providers may process information as needed to perform services on our behalf or as otherwise permitted under their applicable agreements and privacy practices.

Payment information is handled by our payment processor and is not stored directly by Cooking Timers.

When you choose to use AI-assisted features, relevant text, images, videos, or other content may be transmitted to third-party AI service providers to perform the feature you requested.

We may update or replace service providers as our services evolve.

11. Data Storage and Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information.

Current safeguards include:

encrypted connections
secure access controls
private data and media storage
controlled access to private files
account authentication protections
managed infrastructure security measures

While we take reasonable measures to protect information, no website, application, storage system, or network is completely secure.

We cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Data Retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to:

provide the Service
maintain your account
fulfill the purpose for which the information was collected
maintain security and reliability
comply with legal, accounting, tax, fraud-prevention, or regulatory obligations
resolve payment disputes
maintain required email-suppression records

Saved customer content generally remains associated with your account until you delete it or permanently delete your account.

Temporary video files used for Video Import are designed to be removed after processing.

Some diagnostic, financial, email-delivery, and operational records may be retained for a limited or legally necessary period after the underlying activity occurs.

Financial and purchase records may be retained without an active customer-account relationship where reasonably necessary for accounting, tax, chargeback, or legal purposes.

13. Account and Data Deletion

Cooking Timers provides an in-app Delete Account option in Account settings.

If you permanently delete your Cooking Timers account, your Cooking Timers account data is deleted and your access ends. Any subscription billed directly by Cooking Timers is cancelled as part of account deletion. An App Store subscription is managed by Apple and is not cancelled by deleting your Cooking Timers account; you must cancel it separately through Apple’s subscription management.

When you permanently delete your account:

any subscription billed directly by Cooking Timers is cancelled immediately
billing by Cooking Timers stops
your access ends immediately
your saved account content is permanently deleted
share links associated with your account are revoked
pending timer alerts and push subscriptions are removed
customer-owned stored media is removed where it is not still legitimately referenced by another customer or shared system resource
your authentication account is deleted

Account deletion cannot be undone.

We may retain limited information where reasonably necessary for:

accounting or tax obligations
fraud prevention
chargebacks or payment disputes
legal compliance
proof that an account-deletion request was completed
honoring email-suppression preferences

The account-deletion audit record uses a hashed version of the account email rather than retaining the email in plaintext.

Financial records that must remain may be retained without an active link to your deleted account where reasonably possible.

14. Do Not Track and Cross-Site Tracking

Cooking Timers does not currently use advertising trackers or behavioral-advertising systems to follow you across unrelated websites or services.

Because we do not currently engage in this type of cross-site behavioral tracking, Cooking Timers does not currently respond differently to browser Do Not Track signals.

If our practices change, we will update this Privacy Policy.

15. Sale or Advertising Use of Personal Information

We do not:

sell your personal information
rent your personal information
provide personal information to data brokers
use your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising
operate third-party advertising networks within Cooking Timers

Information may be provided to service providers that process it on our behalf to operate the Service, as described in this Privacy Policy.

16. Children’s Privacy

Cooking Timers is not intended for children under 13.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

We do not currently collect dates of birth or operate an age-verification system.

If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, contact us at support@cookingtimers.app and we will take appropriate steps to address it.

17. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.

When we do, we will post the revised Privacy Policy through the Service and update the “Last updated” date.

Your continued use of the Service after the revised Privacy Policy becomes effective constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
